Parties

We guess we have to leave soon; we have had two going away parties and two more are scheduled. Chris & Phyllis Kempter threw us a party last Saturday night, most of the guests are my golf buddies from the Advil Nation. We had a very nice bbq and then sat around the fire pit bsing. I was late for my own party as I was playing in the state racquetball tournament. I imagine I won't be playing much RB on the road.
Today really felt like things they are a changing. Work had a great party for us this afternoon. Sherri has been at the restaurants for 20 years and has made many good friends. Amity and crew did a great job with decorating with a Happy Trails theme. We received some great gifts which will be very handy on the road. The tire repair kit, IPad and Flip will all get a lot of use. Hopefully not too much from the tire repair kit. Jay, from the Tram took lot's of pictures and I will post some soon.
We hit the road Wednesday,OH MY GOSH, and still many things to do.

What a 1st day!!!

Saturday March 12 started innocent enough, we had the 5er packed and ready to move by 10:30am. The trip to KOA and moving into our site went quietly. Jason, the most amazing RV tech, showed up about 11:45 and started showing us all the systems and how to connect hoses etc...It's one thing to read and be told how to do something but another to actually do it.
Everything was fine until I until I got on the phone with Direct TV. Jason was going to stay until I was connected but he had to takeoff and I told him no problem I could finish up. Well over an hour later I was still on the phone. Without going into a whole lot of detail it turns out the receivers Winegard, the satellite company, shipped us equipment which is not compatible with Direct TV and the satellite. After 3 phone calls and extreme frustration I gave up.
The next issue was Sherri taking a shower and not having any hot water, it did come on this morning and we still don't know why it took almost 24 hours to get hot water. Then the dog had to go out at 3am, which he never has to do. By this time it was cold in the 5er and I finally figured out how to work the heater.
On top of losing an hour of sleep, daylight savings time, and the dog and heater issues I had to get up early for a golf tournament.
Nothing tragic happened and we will figure out 5th wheel living. I did finish tied for 2nd in the tournament and we got our broadband set up with out much trouble so today is good.

moving into 5er

Saturday March 12 we will be moving into the 5er. Sherri and I want to get about 3 1/2 weeks of on the job training before we head out. There is so much to do: sort out the last few things that will fit, order Direct TV, get broadband, order a router, buy a laptop. I am glad that we will have sometime to get used to living in the RV, we have much to figure out.
We will be staying in a KOA park in Albuquerque. The park isn't far from work and is on the way to the gym. We continue to work and plan to up until April 1. Sherri's successor is in place and should be ready to solo in a couple of weeks. A successor for me has not been identified and I hope one is soon. It is time to start wrapping things up.
